لياقت راڄپر، جيڪو سنڌ جي اطلاعات کاتي مان اسسٽنٽ ڊائريڪٽر جي عھدي تان ڪجھ سال اول رٽائر ٿيو هو، سو نه رڳو منهنجو پاڙيسري، پر ڄڻ ته سڳو وڏو ڀاءُ ۽ ٻٽيهن دلين وارو گھرو ۽ گهاٽو دوست به ھو. توڙي جو اسانجي عمرين ۾ سالن جو فاصلو ھو، پر ٻالجتيءَ کان پنھنجن ننڍن ڀائرن ڊاڪٽر عبدالڪريم راڄپر (سنڌ ٽي وي جي روح روان ۽ ھڪ سنڌي اخبار جي ايڊيٽر)، ذوالفقار راڄپر (مشهور صحافي ۽ ڪالم نگار) ۽ اعجاز علي راڄپر (انجنيئر ۽ سائنسي مضمونن جو ليکڪ) جيان ڪري نه صرف ڀاءُ ڪري ڀانئيندو ھو، پر دوست جو درجو ڏئي ساڻ کڻي گهمائيندو به ھو ۽ رھبر ٿي صحيح ۽ غلط جي ڄاڻ به وک وک تي شفيقانه ۽ ٻاجهاري انداز ۾ رسائيندو رھندو ھو.

منهنجي ليکڪ بڻجڻ جو اتفاق ته بيشڪ کانئس ننڍي ڀاءُ عبدالڪريم راڄپر جي معرفت ٿيو. جيڪو ستر واري ڏهاڪي جي ابتدائي سالن ۾ ٻارڙن جي تنظيم ”گلن جھڙا ٻارڙا“ سان واڳيل ھو ۽ ان جي صحبت ۽ رھنمائيءَ ۾ منهنجو تعلق به ان تنظيم سان جُڙيو ۽ ائين ادب جي جھان سان آشنائي ٿي ۽ ان جي ذاتي لائبريريءَ مان شاھڪار ادب پڙهي اڳتي هلي شاعر ۽ اديب بڻيس. پر ان جي پس منظر ۾ لياقت راڄپر جون محبتون ۽ شفقتون به ھيون. جيڪو تڏهن سڌيءَ ريت ته نه، پر اڻ سڌي نموني علم ۽ ادب جي راھَ جو پانڌيئڙو ھو ۽ سندس ڪچهريون ان جو آئينو ھونديون ھيون.

ان زماني ۾ ھن جو گهڻو تڻو شوق فلمي دنيا سان ھو. سينيما ۾ لڳڻ سان ھر نئين فلم جي ھن نه ڏٺي، ته ڄڻ پيٽ ڀري ماني ئي ڪونه کاڌائين. پاڪستاني فلمن جا ھيرو محمد علي ۽ نديم ھن جا پسنديده اداڪار ھوندا ھئا.

عجيب اتفاق ته انهن ٻنهي اداڪارن جا خاص وصف سندس مُنهن مبارڪ مان به پيا جهلڪندا ھئا. وڏن ۽ ڪلھن تائين وارن رکڻ جي ان فيشني دور ۾ لياقت راڄپر جي ڪلھن تي به وڏا وار مونکي ڏاڍا ٺھندڙ ۽ موھيندڙ محسوس ٿيندا ھئا. فلمي دنيا سان ايڏي گهري لاڳاپي باوجود کيس اداڪار بڻجڻ جو شوق بنھين ڪونه هو. توڙي لاھور ۽ ڪراچيءَ جي فلمي اسٽوڊيوز جا خوب چڪر به وڏي چاهه سان لڳائي ايندو رھندو ھو.

اطلاعات کاتي ۾ ڪلارڪيءَ جا ڏاڪا ٽپي جڏهن انفارميشن آفيسر جي درجي کي رسيو ته سرڪاري ھينڊ آئوٽ لکندي منجهس مضمون نگاريءَ جو جذبو پيدا ٿيو. جيڪو آ ھستي آھستي وڌندي جنون ۾ تبديل ٿيندو ويو. شروعات سنڌي اخبارن ۽ رسالن ۾ لکڻ سان ڪيائين، پر پوءِ اردو ۽ انگريزيءَ ۾ به انيڪ موضوعن تي سندس قلم ڪنهن گوءِ جي گهوڙي جيان ڊوڙندو رھيو.

”روزاني ھلال پاڪستان“، ”جنگ“ ۽ ”ڊان“ کان ويندي پوءِ بيشمار اخبارن ۾ سندس مختلف معروف توڙي غير معروف شخصيتن جي پروفائيلن کانسواءِ لاڙڪاڻي ۽ سنڌ جي اھم تاريخي، تھذيبي ۽ ثقافتي ماڳن مڪانن تي شاھڪار ۽ يادگار ليک لکي ڇپايائين. سندس اھو قلمي پورهيو جيڪڏهن سھيڙبو ته ويھ پنجويهه ڪتاب ته يقينن ماڻهن جي ھٿن تائين رسي سگهندا. اميد ته علمي ادبي ادارا ان فرض کان غفلت جو مظاهرو نه ڪندا. خصوصن لاڙڪاڻي جي ڊويزنل سرڪار.ھو پنھنجي ذات ۾ سراپا پيار ھو. سچو پيار. جنهنڪري ھن جي لاڏاڻي کي دل جي ڪنهن گهاوَ وانگر محسوس ڪندي ڳوڙها ڳلن تان سُڪن ئي نٿا.

ويو وڻجارو ووءِ، مونکي ڇڏي ماڳھين،

جُڳن جا جُڳَ ٿِيا، تِئان نه موٽيو ڪوءِ،

سندھہ کا سوہنا ادیب و سوانح نگار

لہجے میں مٹھاس، شائستگی اور سریلا پن بھرے لیاقت راجپر کی وجہہ شہرت لکھاری، کالم نگار، محقق، صحافی اور ایک ترقی پسند ادیب کی ہے اور رہےگی۔  سادہ طبیعت و مزاج کا یہ خوبرو، خوش گفتار، ملنسار، خوش مزاج، بااخلاق، خوش نظر، باذوق،  مخلص، بے لوث صاحبِ کردار انسان اپنی شاندار تحقیقی تحریروں کی صورت میں سندھی کی تاریخ میں ایسے ادبی نقوش چھوڑگیاہے جسے وقت کے کھردرے ہاتھہ کبھی مٹا نہیں سکیں گے۔

لیاقت راجپر ایک لمبی کہانی ہے مگر اس کی یادیں خلاصہ بن کر اس وقت میرے ذہن کے دریچے پر چھن چھن کر آرہی تھیں۔  زمانہ بھی کیسے کیسے رنگ و انقلابات و حادثات  دکھاتے ہوئے ہنساتا اور رلاتا بھی ہے۔ لیاقت راجپر سے میری ملاقات بیس پچیس سال پہلے لاڑکانہ انفارمیشن آفیس میں ہوئی تھی تاریخ اور سال تو مجھے یاد نہیں ہے مگر تب سے ان کے ساتھہ اخلاق، محبت اور عقیدت کا رشتہ قائم رہتا چلا آیا۔ اکثر اوقات میرے غریب خانے کو مہربانی فرما کر رونق بخش دیا کرتے تھے کبھی سائیں مختیار سموں کے ساتھہ تو کبھی کسی دوست و ہمنوا کے ساتھہ جبکہ اکثر اوقات اکیلے بھی آجایا کرتے تھے اور جب کبھی انہیں گاڑی پر چھوڑنے والا کوئی نہیں ہوتا تھا تو مجھے دڑی والے گھر میں بلالیا کرتے تھے کہ انہوں نے زندگی بھر موٹر سائیکل کا گاڑی سیکھنے کا تکلف نہیں کیا تھا۔

اس طویل قامت شخص سے ملتے ہی ہر شخص مرعوب ہوجاتا تھا مگر بعد ازاں اس پر اعتماد کرنے کے ساتھہ پرجوش مداح بھی بن جاتا تھا۔ ان کے ہاتھہ میں ہمیشہ ایک ہینڈپرس دیکھا جاتا تھا جس میں اس دلکش لکھاری اور انوکھے انسان کے کام کی چیزیں جیسا کہ پینسل، پین، چھوٹا سا ٹیپ رکارڈر، چشمے وغیرہ پڑے رہتے تھے۔ لیاقت راجپر جیسے عظیم انسانوں اور لکھاریوں کو اپنی آنے والی نسل سے متعارف کروانا بہت ضروری ہوتا ہے کیوں کہ ایسے مفید لوگوں کو سینہ بسینہ چل کر لوگ کہانیوں میں ڈھلنے تک داستانوں کی طرح  نسلاً در نسلاً سنتے رہنا چاہیے۔

لیاقت راجپر سے میری آخری دو ملاقاتوں میں سے پہلی18 جنوری 2019ع کو تب ہوئی جب وہ سائیں مختیار سموں کے ساتھہ میرے غریب خانے پر تشریف لائے تھےاور آخری ملاقات ان سے  مئی 2019ع میں ان کے دڑی محلے والے گھر میں ہوئی تھی جہاں اس نے میرا انٹرویو لینے کیلئے بلایا تھا جو بعد ازاں روزنامہ سندھی اخبار "عبرت" کے 28 جون 2019ع کے شمارے میں شایع ہوا تھا۔ اسی طرح جب بھی میرا کراچی جانا ہوا کرتا تھا تو ان کی گلستانِ جوہر میں جوہر چورنگی کے نزد واقع رہائش گاھہ یا ان کے آفیس میں ملاقات کیلئے حاضری دیا کرتا تھا۔

لیاقت راجپر کی 1973ع میں سندھہ انفارمیشن ڈیپارٹمنٹ میں اسٹینو گرافر کے طور پر بھرتی ہوئی، اچھی شکل و صورت، بات چیت میں مہذب ہونے کے ساتھہ انگریزی اردو اور سندھی زباندانی میں یکتا ہونے کے سبب اپنے ادارے میں تو معروف و مقبول تھے مگر حلقئہ احباب میں انہیں قدردانی کی نگاھہ سے دیکھا جاتا تھا۔  غالبن 1980ع میں ان کی ترقی انفارمیشن آفیسر کے طور پر ہوئی جہاں سے بعد ازاں ڈپٹی ڈائریکٹر کے طور پر رٹائر ہوئے۔  کسی دور میں  اطلاعات کھاتے کا آفیس لاڑکانہ وی آئی پی روڈ پر ہائی کورٹ کے نزدیک ہواکرتا تھا جو بعد ازاں کمشنر آفیس میں شفٹ کردیا گیا تھا۔  لیاقت راجپر کے اخلاق، دوستی اور مہمان نوازی کے سب ان کے آفیس میں ہر وقت شہر کی معزز شخصیات، ادیبوں، دانشورون، صحافیوں اور دوستوں کا جمگھٹارہتا تھا۔

مطالعے کے شوقین ہونے کی وجہہ سے معلوماتِ عامہ پر دسترس رکھتے تھے اور مختلف موضوعات پر روانی سے گفتگو بھی کرتے تھے جس کے سبب شہر کے ادبی حلقوں میں سرگرم لوگوں میں بھی ان کی آمدرفت کا سلسلہ جاری رہا۔  ادیبوں اور شاعروں کی حفلوں میں شریک ہونے کے موقعے کبھی نہیں گنواتے تھے۔

 لیاقت راجپر کے دوست بھی زیادہ تر ادبی اور فلمی ہواکرتے تھے جیسا کہ ہمارے دیرینہ اور خوبصورت دوست منظور لاڑک، قلندربخش کلو وغیرہ۔  دفتری اوقات کے بعد گھر کے معاملات نپٹاکر شام کے بعد اسٹیشن روڈ لاڑکانہ پر واقع مہران ہوٹل لیاقت راجپر اور شہر کے ادبا و شعرا کا معروف ٹھکانہ ہواکرتاتھا اور کیا عجیب و غریب ماحول ہوتا تھا جو کہ اب خواب و خیال بن کر رہ گیا ہے کہ جہاں شہر کے ہوٹل اہلِ ادب، زندہ دل اور حسن و جمال کے دلداوہ خوبصورت لوگوں کا ٹھکانہ ہوا کرتے تھے مگر اب وہ آوارہ پھرنے والے ٹولوں کے ٹھکانے بن گئے ہیں۔

لاڑکانہ اس دور میں صاف ستھرا شہر تھا جہاں سب سے بڑی تفریح شہر کی ایمپائیر، نگار، المنظر، رائل اور قلوپیٹرا نامی پانچ سنیمائیں ہواکرتی تھی جہاں جاکر فلمیں دیکھنا شہر و نزدیکی دیہات کے نوجوان کا محبوب مشغلا ہواکرتا تھا اور سبھی اپنے اپنے ہیروز کے فیشن اپنانے میں فخر محسوس کیا کرتے تھے۔  خوبصورت نقش و نگار ، اچھا خاصاقد کاٹھہ، دیدہ زیب اورباوقار شخصیت کا مالک ہونے کے ناطے لیاقت راجپر کو بھی احساس تھا کہ وہ خوبصورت دکھتے ہیں۔ بچپن سے ہی انہیں ایکشن فلمیں دیکھنے کا شوق ہواکرتا تھا  اور انہیں اداکار سدھیر بہت پسند ہواکرتے تھے  جس کی ہر فلم وہ دیکھا کرتا تھا مگر اسے سدھیر کی فلموں میں باغی، آخری نشان، فرنگی بہت پسند تھیں۔  لیاقت راجپر اپنے وقت کے اس سپر اسٹار کا اس حد تک پرستارتھا کہ فلموں میں کی گئی  اس کی حرکات و سکنات اور ڈائیلاگ ڈلیوری کی وہ ہر جگہ نقل کیاکرتا تھاکہ سدھیر کیسے کھانا کھاتا ہے، بات کیسے کرتا ہے، اسے  غصہ کیسے آتا ہے۔

نوجوانی کی سرحدوں کو چھوتے ہی یہ شوقِ آوارگی انہیں اس وقت کی فلمی جنت لاہور کی فلم نگری بھی لے گیا جہاں یہ خوبصورت مگر اجنبی انسان فلمی اسٹوڈیوز کے جہازی دروازوں سے باہر فلمی اداکارائوں کو دیکھنے کے چکر میں کھڑا رہتاتھا۔  روزانہ اسے کھڑا دیکھہ کر ایک دن ایک اسٹوڈیو کے چوکیدار کے پوچھنے پر اس نے بتایا کہ "میں لاڑکانہ سے یہاں آیا ہوں"۔ جس پر رحمدل چوکیدار نے اسے اسٹوڈیو کے عملے سے تعارف کروایا "یہ جوان بھٹو کے شہر سے یہاں آیا ہے"۔  کچھہ ہی دنوں میں لیاقت راجپر کیلئے شہر کی کئی سنیمائیں، چھوٹے موٹے ہوٹل اور فلمی اسٹوڈیومفت کا مال بن گئے کہ وہاں سارا عملہ اس کا دوست بن گیا تھا جہاں فارغ اوقات میں تمام لوگ اس سے بھٹو صاحب سے متعلق معلومات لیا کرتے تھے جو لیاقت کی پسندیدہ شخصیت تھی۔ کچھہ عرصہ فلم نگری کی خاک چھاننے کے بعد واپس چلے آئے کہ اس دیارِ غیر سے ان کی نہیں نبھہ سکی۔

جب اسے  سندھ انفارمیشن محکمے میں اسٹینو کی نوکری ملی تب سے اس کی جان پہچان شہر کے پڑہے لکھے لوگوں، صحافیوں، ادیبوں وغیرہ سے ہوئی جن میں لاڑکانہ کی مقتدر شخصیت کامریڈ جمال الدین بخاری بھی تھا  جن کی مہربان طبعتی ، علمی رحجان اور فصاحت و بلاغت سے متاثر ہوکر لیاقت راجپر کے دل میں بھی لکھنے پڑھنے کے  شوق  نے ڈیرا جمایا۔  علاوہ ازیں علم کی پیاس بڑہانے اور کتابیں مہیا کرنے میں ان کے اس وقت کے انفارمیشن آفیسر محمد لائق حسین  بھی پیش پیش رہے۔ اب کتابیں پڑھنے کے ساتھہ ادبی شخصیات کے ساتھہ باقائدگی سے ملاقاتیں اس کا روز کا معمول ہوا کرتی تھیں۔   یہ 1985ع کا دور تھا جب اس نے ادب اور صحافت کی دنیا میں باقائدگی سے قدم جماکر لکھنا شروع کیا۔

لیاقت راجپر ایک صاف ستھرا اور پڑہا لکھا آدمی تھا جس کے متعلق میرا دعویٰ ہے کہ وہ سندھی، اردو اور انگریزی زبان میں سندھہ کی ادبی تاریخ کا سب سے بڑا سوانح نگار تھا۔  میری یاداشت میں مرحوم عبداستار بھٹی لاڑکانہ سے متعلق شخصیات پر لکھنے والا کمال ادیب تھا مگر لیاقت راجپر اس پسمنظر میں ان سے بھی دو قدم آگے تھا۔  میری خوشقسمتی ہے کہ ان صرف ان دونوں عظیم شخصیات سے میری ذاتی دوستی اور عقیدتمندی رہی بلکہ ان دونوں نے اس ناچیز  کو اپنی قلمی ذوق سے نواز کر میرے پروفائیل لکھے۔  لیاقت راجپر ایک ورسٹائل لکھاری تھا جو تاریخ، ثقافت، تہذیب، حالات حاضرہ، سیاست وغیرہ پر لکھتا رہتا تھا، اس نے سفرنامے بھی لکھے مگر اس کی لکھاری کے طور پر اس کی خاصیت سوانح نگار کی تھی۔ اس نے عمومن سندھہ اور خصوصن لاڑکانہ کی ہر ادبی، سماجی، ثقافتی، سیاسی، فلاحی اور اچھی شخصیت پر سیر حاصل لکھا اور خوب لکھا۔  

لیاقت راجپر نے شاھہ لطیف سے لیکر قلندر شہباز تک، دیوان امرت راءِ سے لیکر کریم بخش نظامانی پر، مختیار سموں سے لیکر پیربخش سومرو تک، اختر علی جی قاضی سے لیکر محمد فاضل، دولہہ دریاخان، بشیر احمد شاد، محمد علی پٹھان، یعقوب زکریا، تنویرعباسی، ایازقادری، زرینہ بلوچ، ایس ایم ادریس،  نورمحمد لاشاری،ایلسا قاضی، فاضل راہو، رئیس غلام محمد بھرگڑی وغیرہ وغیرہ کے علاوہ سینکڑوں شخصیات کے سوانحی خاکے لکھے۔ اس کے سماجی مامرات پر لکھے گئے مضامین کے عنوانات بھی شاندار ہوا کرتے تھے جیسے کہ "حکومت کو چاہیے کہ سائنسدان پیدا کرے" یا پھر "نئے قبرستانوں کیلئے زمین الاٹ کی جائے" وغیرہ وغیرہ۔

سال 2000ع میں لیاقت راجپر اپنی فیملی کے ساتھہ کراچی ہجرت کرگئے اور تب تک یہ عروش البلاد شہرِ خرابی بن چکا تھا جہاں سرکاری نوکری کے آخری ماہ و سال گزارے اور وہیں اپنے چھوٹے بھائی عبدالکریم راجپر کے سندھہ ٹی وی چینل پر پبلک رلیشن آفیسر کے طور پر بھی کام کرنے کے ساتھہ بیشمار سندھی، اردو اور انگریزی اخبارات و رسائل میں فری لانس کے طور پر لکھتا رہتا تھا۔ کراچی جاکر بھی اس کی پڑہائی کی عادت نہیں گئی اور وہ اکثر اس وشال شہر کی معروف لائیبرریوں میں دیکھا جاتا تھا جبکہ فارغ اوقات میں اس کا خاص ٹھکانہ لیاقت نیشنل لائبریری ہواکرتی تھی۔

لیاقت راجپر کے والد عبدالقادر کا انتقال ایک ہفتہ پہلے لاڑکانہ میں ہوگیا تھا جہاں وہ کراچی سے آئے ہوئے تھے۔کرونا کی وبا نے تمام دنیا کو ہلا کر رکھہ دیا ہے۔  مجھے لگتا ہے ہے اپنے والد کی وفات پر تعذیت کیلئے آنے والوں میں سے کسی بیمار سے وائرس کا انتقال ان پر ہوا تھا جس سے انہیں سانس کی تکلیف شروع ہوئی جس کی وجہہ سے انہیں لاڑکانہ کی چانڈکا میڈیکل کالیج ہاسپیٹل میں داخل کیا گیا تھا جہاں تین دن تک زندگی اور موت کی کشمکش میں مبتلا رہنے کے بعد 19 جون 2020ع کو سندھہ کے اس قابل سوانح نگار اور ہونہار ادیب کا انتقال ہوگیا۔ سوشل میڈیاپر اس یادگار ہستی کے بچھوڑے پر دوست و احباب  اظہار غم کے ساتھہ انہیں عقیدت کے پھول چڑہائے جارہے ہیں جس نے اپنی ساری زندگی سندھہ کے سچے سپوتوں اور دوستوں کی پروفائیل جوڑتے اور قلمی جنگ لڑتے ہوئے گزاری۔

Renowned writer, upright man and my bosom pal Liaquat Rajper left us for an eternal abode unannounced on 19th June this year. His sudden departure from this mortal world did not only left his family and friends sobbing and upset but it created a vacuum in field of research and writing on history of Larkana as well which only he could have filled in. His undeterred resolve for preserving the history of Larkana and other places of Sindh was evident from his frequent research articles on people and places of Larkana being published in Sindhi, Urdu and English language dailies regularly. He researched and wrote on places of historical importance and epoch making people both living or those have departed from this mortal world but have left indelible mark on the society through their exceptional character and exemplary work in various fields of life. Thus he wrote hundreds of articles which if compiled into a book will make voluminous books in afore-mentioned three languages.

My acquaintance and friendship with Mr. Rajper was as old as of coming into being of Knowledge Centre in Larkana. It was the year 1992 that I hired a small building of one room in city of Larkana and named it “Knowledge Centre Larkana”. My purpose was to build an institute where youth of Larkana and its peripheral areas should walk in to improve their skills of English language, enhance their knowledge, develop their personality and talent, get exposed to world of opportunities in and outside the country, prepare for competitive examinations, and thus find for them an appropriate position and place in society to earn their livelihood respectfully and serve the people and country dedicatedly as well. This did not only attract large number of youth towards Knowledge Centre but my purpose and efforts were recognized and appreciated by many good people from all walks of life specially writers and intellectuals of Larkana who rallied round me and valued my endeavours for noble cause of education and learning. Some became my good friends, Liaqaut Rajper was one of them. 

Mr. Liaquat Ali Rajper was thoroughly gentleman, well-lettered and sociable soul having an extensive public relations in Larkana. His services as an officer in Information Department of government of Sindh or as a writer and good citizen were laudable.  Before reckoning his selfless services and good works let’s have a peep into his personal record. He was born in Larkana on 1st April, 1952 and was eldest of five siblings. Dr. Abdul Karim Rajper founder of Sindh T.V and Zulfikar Rajper a prominent journalist are his younger brothers. Initially he was admitted in Primary School Mohalla Dari Larkana for his basic education but had to attend some other schools of the district before passing fifth standard from PC school Larkana. At that time his father was serving as surveyor in irrigation department and was transferred to different cities where he moved with him along with family and attended schools there occasionally. He also frequented to Badah Town of Larkana district   also where his grandfather Abdul Aziz Rajper was posted as “sobedar” (Assistant sub Inspector/ Sub Inspector) in police department. He, for some years intermittently lived there with his grandfather also. He got secondary education from Pilot High school Larkana. For higher secondary education he was admitted in Degree College Larkana where from he passed intermediate in the year 1972. Once in an interview taken by producer Mushtaque Tunio, broadcast by Radio Paksitan Larkana Mr. Liaquat had told that he could not pursue his further education as a regular student or attended any university for that purpose because as soon as he completed his higher secondary education he was offered a job of stenographer in District Information Department Larkana. That time it attracted him so much that he deemed it a great opportunity, accepted the offer and resumed the job in 1973. Mohammad Liaq Hussain Soomro was Information Officer at that time who had appointed him on the post. He had further told that after joining the department he became so busy in dispensing his duties that he could not find a time to go for further education as regular student. Elaborating experiences of his early days of job in Information Department he told that it was the period when Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was prime Minster of Pakistan and many heads of  foreign states especially from Islamic countries, high profile international and national delegations would visit Moen jo Daro, or come to Larkana for meetings as well. He used to cover the visits and meetings by performing his duty as being official of information department and prepare reports for print and electronic media, hence, he learnt a lot from this and enjoyed working as well, therefore he did not think to look for a lucrative jobs in departments like customs, PIA etcetera but preferred to continue his job in information department. After serving the department for 39 years’ long period with full commitment he retired from the service as a Director Information from his Karachi office on 1st April 2012 reaching his superannuation age.  After retirement from the job he had two paths ahead of him to tread on. Either to stay home, relax and enjoy the perks of retired life or to come back to society and continue contributing actively into it for its general good and his own inner satisfaction as well. He chose the second one which resulted in his valuable contribution in the field of journalism, research and compilation of history of Larkana. He started freelancing for Sindhi, Urdu and English dailies and magazines, went to place to place in Sindh and especially explored Larkana in detail, researched lives and works of epoch making personalities, met living legends talked to them about their lives and works, recorded their interviews and wrote articles which regularly appeared in newspapers and evoked interest of readers fascinated to history. It was his wont that when on self-assignment he would always come out of home with shopping bag in his hand which contained in it a tape-recorder, camera, some papers and pen which he brought into full use when and where needed during his sojourns to various places. Before embarking on his new work of freelancing and regular writing for newspapers after retirement he had for some period of time worked as Public Relation Officer for Sindh T.V. and cherished his short stint there. While recalling his dedicated services for the channel during those days he sometimes felt gloomy also for not being able to work there independently to his full talent and wishes, hence remained short of showing light of day to his good and creative plans for the betterment of the channel. 

During his later period of government service he had been transferred to Karachi where he settled with family permanently and even after retirement from the service he continued his residence in Karachi where his family still resides. When in Larkana he was regular visitor to me in Knowledge Centre. Working hours of Knowledge Centre were from 3.00 to 8.00 in the evening daily, Saturdays and Sundays were closed days. He used to come to me by 8.00 pm almost daily, sometimes my other friends also joined us, we hatted, discussed many things, had a cup of tea and dispersed to meet next day. Sometimes we both went to our common friends, or to some prominent and senior citizens in the city to meet them and have their experiences of life. Occasionally we went to Nazar Mahalla to meet Mr. Ishaque Abro, a learned man and the owner of Cleopatra Cinema. He used to sit with us in a vast ground in-front of his Cinema, we listened to him speaking on many important topics ranging from literature, sports, films and Larkana as well. Sometimes we watched film in cinema also. During these days I got acquaintance with Mr. Nazim Ansari sahib who was Mr. Rajper’s friend. He was very gentleman and interesting personality serving as accounts officer in Chandka Medical College Larkana. His residence was in Ansari Mohalla near Pakistani Chowk. Knowledge Centre was also located on short distance from his residence near Pakistani chowk. Sometimes we went to Nazim sahib to meet him at his residence where Mr. Mumtaz Memon former secretary of Larkana Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education would come. We chatted intimately, had heartiest laughers and shed the worries of challenging life. Our closed common friend is Mr. Manzoor Larik. He is very dynamic, stylish and dressy personality. He also visited me in Knowledge Centre frequently, Liaquat also came and we three used to make very happy company. Liaquat Rajper’s friends’ circle was very large which included senior and junior personalities from all walks of life, all of them welcomed us with open arms. When he was transferred to Karachi our regular meetings came to halt. However, we continued remaining in contacts with each other through long telephonic calls. Whenever I went to Karachi I met him or when he came to Larkana he came to me we met at Knowledge Centre, walked together, and went to friends also.  Many times he participated in students programmes and literary events held at Knowledge Center. In Karachi I first met him  in his office in the building of Sindh T.V where he worked for short span of time immediate after his retirement, later we used to meet at Liaquat Memorial Library, Stadium Road Karachi where he came regularly and punctually, spent his whole day in reading and writing and went back home in evening. In Liaquat Library he had got one separate room reserved for researchers where in besides him two or three other senior writers and scholars also sat regularly and worked on their research projects. Prominent amongst them was Mr. Arshad Indhar whom I had also met there during one of my visits to Liaquat Rajper in this library.

During last few visits of Liaquat Rajper to Larkana in recent past we together had met Mr. Asif Raza Morio, very hard working and dedicated researcher and prolific writer at his residence and had very interesting chat with him.  In his next trip we went to Moen jo daro, I got him round Shaheed Z.A.Bhutto Agriculture College Dokri, we went to visit historical mosque in Rashdi’s village near Tulah Taluka Bakrani and met notable of the village because Liaquat wanted to write an article on the village. During his this visit we had met Mr. Kalb-e-Hussain Lahori former care-taker minister and very prominent and respectable personality of Larkana at his residence in Lahori Mohalla. Mr. Liaquat recorded his interview on his tap-recorder. Replying the questions Mr. Lahori sahib had told very important and interesting facts and stories of historical importance regarding the Larkana city and about some seasoned political figures of Larkana. Later Mr. Liaquat transcribed this interview on paper and translated it in Urdu which was published in daily Express in two installments.   

Few days before his death he had phoned me from Karachi and told me that he would come soon to Larkana and go to visit some villages and interview people because he wanted to write articles on them. I readied for his programme but after few days of his talk his father, who was living in Larkana, died after prolonged ailment. I got this message and wanted to go for condolence with him but his younger brother Zulfikar Rajper informed me that due to corona Virus spread in the country condolences are accepted on phone and  that Liaquat was also not feeling well and had got serious health problem due to which he had been admitted in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Civil Hospital Larkana where he had been isolated and treated but after fighting three days for life in the hospital he breathed his last on 19th  June and was buried at Abu Baker Muqam (graveyard) Larkana  four days after burial of his father in the same graveyard. The death of his father and three days after his sudden departure to eternal abode sent his loved, near and dear ones in shock. He left behind a wife and three daughters. One daughter has graduated from Karachi University and is now employed in a bank. The two are pursuing their university education. However, he will continue living in the hearts and memories of his family members and friends and will also be remembered by those those who have been benefited or will be benefited from his literary works in future also.
